Best of 2016: Skincare and Make up

"The words you speak become the house you live in" - Hafiz

Hello Friends,

It's been a while. I hope you've all been well. Last year, was a truly great year for me. It was a very productive year where I changed a lot, embarked on many new experiences and overcame some of my fears. I hope that 2017 will be a good year for everyone. I'm starting this 2017 by reminiscing on the collection of beauty products I've enjoyed using throughout the year of 2016. Here are just a few.

Make up

Clio Kill Cover Liquid Founwear Ampule Cushion

If you haven't seen my review on this foundation please do check it out .

This has been my go to foundation for 2016. It's high coverage means that I only needed to apply a thin layer, in order to even out my skin tone. Despite being a high coverage product the finish is quite dewy and natural. It is highly moisturising so I do advise applying a little bit of translucent powder on areas you might get oily. I also recommend this for during the colder season because of its moisturising properties. Overall it is a long lasting foundation, suitable for combination or combination/dry skin types.

Etude House Sweet Recipe Cupcake All Over Color

I have heard a lot about cream blushers but never really used one myself. So upon receiving this as a gift, I started to use it in replacement of my powder blush.

I was quite surprised with how pigmented and natural this blush looked on the skin. Cream blushers are known to give a natural flush, just like you're blushing from within. This blush definitely delivers on those characteristics. Although not very long lasting on its own. Once it's blended into the skin, by applying a powder or similar blush colour, that this will allow it to last for a longer period of time. This is quite an affordable and cute blush and recommend you give it a go if you want to try cream blushes.

Lip product
Smashbox Always Sharp Lip Liner in Ruby

Out of all my lip colours I have managed to narrow it down not to the one I've used the most but down to the impulse buy I don't regret! If you have quite medium/light skin with yellow undertones then you should give the ruby red lip liner from Smashbox a try. It's long lasting and my most loved red lip pencil.

Skin Care

Cleansing Water
Neogen Dermalogy Real Flower Cleansing Water Calendula

I've always thought of toners as that step I never really knew that much about but only did it because it was staple part of skin care. This cleansing water in this case can also be used as a post-cleansing toner. This toner does a great job of removing any remaining make up and preping the skin for the next step of skin care. It also functions as a cleansing water, basically like a micellar water. It's natural ingredients means it's perfect for those with sensitive skin types (e.g. acne prone) and those with oily/combination skin.

Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum

I have never used serums before and decided to give this one a go. This product has been life changing! My skin has improved in so many ways. I've noticed that my skin is a lot softer, firmer and visibly brighter. This also did a great job of evening out my overall skin texture. I highly recommend you to use serums as they are a good way to add antioxidants to the skin. Not only do they add a boost of antioxidants but they actively repair your skin from sun damage and provide anti-aging benefits. This is definitely my favourite skin care find of 2016!

Eye Cream
Belif Moisturising and Firming eye cream

I'm a firm believer in eye creams (no pun intended), but eye creams do make a huge difference. I've used this eye for the entire year of 2016 and still have a little more than half to go. A little does go a long way and I make sure to apply this during the day and night. This eye cream claims to firm fine lines and prevent the onset of new wrinkles. I can definitely say this is true! My eyes appear firmer and less dull. I can't say much about the brightening effect of this eye cream but it is moisturising like it also claims. I highly recommend incorporating eye creams into your skin care routine, to prevent the first signs of aging.
